Non-Surgical Treatments

Start With the Least-Invasive Options

Most patients improve without surgery. Our team takes a conservative-first approach with treatments designed to reduce pain, improve strength, and prevent future flare-ups.

Non-Surgical Hand & Wrist Treatments

  • Static Resting Splints Immobilization splints that hold joints in optimal position to reduce pain and prevent deformity. These devices are particularly effective for inflammatory conditions, post-surgical protection, and acute injuries requiring rest.
    • Wrist cock-up splints for carpal tunnel syndrome
    • Resting hand splints for arthritis management
  • Dynamic Functional Orthoses Mobilization devices that allow controlled movement while providing support and protection. These orthoses help restore function while preventing re-injury during healing and rehabilitation.
    • Tenodesis splints for improved grip strength
    • Dynamic extension assists for finger contractures
  • Serial Static Progressive Splints Adjustable devices designed to gradually increase range of motion by applying gentle, prolonged stretch to tight tissues. These splints are progressively adjusted as flexibility improves over time.
    • Serial casting for elbow contracture correction
    • Progressive wrist extension splints
  • Protective and Supportive Bracing Lightweight, durable orthoses that provide joint stability and protection during activity. These devices allow functional movement while preventing harmful motions that could cause re-injury.
    • Thumb spica splints for arthritis support
    • Neoprene sleeves with custom modifications
  • Activity-Specific Adaptive Devices Specialized orthoses designed to improve performance of specific daily activities such as eating, writing, or work tasks. These devices compensate for weakness or limited mobility to maintain independence.
    • Custom feeding splints with utensil attachments
    • Writing aids and grip enhancement devices

Studies show that patients using custom orthoses experience 40% greater improvement in function compared to off-the-shelf alternatives, with 85% reporting better comfort and compliance.

Surgical Hand & Wrist Procedures

  • Post-Surgical Immobilization Orthoses Custom devices fabricated immediately after hand, wrist, or elbow surgery to protect healing tissues and maintain optimal positioning. These orthoses are designed to accommodate post-operative swelling while providing secure immobilization.
  • Tendon Repair Protection Splints Specialized orthoses that protect repaired tendons while allowing controlled early mobilization. These devices prevent rupture of surgical repairs while promoting healing through graduated movement protocols.
  • Fracture Stabilization Orthoses Custom-molded devices that provide external support for healing fractures, particularly in cases where traditional casting is not suitable. These orthoses can be removed for hygiene and wound care while maintaining proper alignment.
  • Joint Reconstruction Support Systems Complex orthoses designed for patients recovering from joint replacement or reconstruction surgeries. These devices provide precise positioning and graduated support as patients progress through rehabilitation phases.
Star
Research indicates that patients using custom post-operative orthoses show 30% faster return to function and 25% lower complication rates compared to standard immobilization methods.

SH
Expected to see Dr. Bohm and wanted to discuss new issue; but saw PA (which is fine) and was asked about an old injection I had back in August
SB
I have not rarely worked with a physician who has it all--expertise, patience, great bedside manner, with attention to detail. I've said in the past and many times since that I believe he saved my hand post severe wrist fracture. Most recently, we talked about some numbness in that thumb, no pain, just annoyance. He explained what likely is the cause and my treatment options while leaving it totally up to me. His staff is also great
SM
Dr Kyle was so great. He helped me with out having to have surgery. His staff could communicate more.
SG
Dr Bohm is awesome! I was fortunate enough to be in the team’s office for a follow up with his colleague. That Dr (Kassa) noticed an ace bandage on my right hand/wrist and inquired about the injury. I explained to him that I was in extreme pain and was planning to see a specialist (different office) and the soonest I could get in was 1/12/25. He immediately said “No, we’re going to get you taken care of right now) they DID! I not only got to see Dr Bohm, he ordered X-rays, gave me a cortisone injection and made sure the meds I was prescribed were aligned with the plan of treatment he came up with on the spot! After the X-rays Dr Bohm sat with me to review them and he took his time to make sure I understood my diagnosis what that meant and all treatment options available to me. I was thoroughly impressed with his knowledge/ability & willingness to take the time to do that so articulately. I went to that office for a follow up regarding back/neck injections, which are great! To having a new hand specialist and being taken care of on the spot. When just hours before I was pacing the floor at home contemplating going to the ER. A place we all know would have done nothing but waste hours of my life. I couldn’t be more thankful to the people at this office and especially Dr Bohm. If you have the need for this type of Dr or any other Dr honestly, don’t waste your time looking elsewhere, this place is truly amazing. Filled with not only Dr’s but a staff that truly cares about the patient. That’s right, a Dr’s office full of people that care about there patients. It’s amazing to finally have one of these back!

Very nice. Understanding
MF
Check-in staff did an awesome job helping me set additional appts and was super friendly! Dr. B was helpful as always and a pleasure to see. It did seem like the MA who brought me back may have been having a bit of a bad day. While she was proficient, she wasn’t super friendly. Maybe just having an off day or it was too early and she wasn’t awake yet :)
PG
