You Shouldn’t Have to Decode Your Insurance to Get the Care You Need
We participate with most major insurance plans across our locations in Sterling Heights, Livonia, Southfield, Port Huron, and Troy. That includes commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, auto accident coverage, workers’ compensation, and self-pay options.
Because insurance participation can vary by provider and location, the best way to confirm your coverage is to schedule an appointment or give us a call. Our team will verify your benefits before your visit so there are no surprises.
The short version: if you have insurance, there’s a very good chance we accept it. And if you’re not sure, we’ll help you find out.

Don’t see your plan? That doesn’t mean we can’t see you. Many plans use networks (like Cofinity or MultiPlan) that connect to our providers. Call us at 866-761-1961 or schedule online and we’ll verify your coverage before your visit.
Important: We do not accept straight Medicaid, Cigna HMO, or most Medicaid managed care plans (such as Molina Medicaid, Meridian Medicaid, or HAP Empowered Medicaid). If you’re unsure whether your Medicaid plan qualifies, please call us and we’ll help you understand your options.
Other Ways Your Care May Be Covered
Insurance isn’t the only way to pay for orthopedic, spine, or physical therapy care. If you were hurt in a car accident, injured on the job, or simply want to pay out of pocket, we have a path for you.
Injured in a Car Accident? We Can Help.
If you’ve been in an auto accident in Michigan, your car insurance (called No-Fault or PIP coverage) typically covers your medical care — regardless of who caused the accident. You don’t need a referral to see us, and your regular health insurance is not the primary payer.
What to know:
- Michigan No-Fault insurance covers orthopedic, spine, and physical therapy care related to your accident.
- Bring your auto insurance information and claim number to your first visit.
- If you have an attorney, let us know — we’ll coordinate with them.
- Having health insurance on file does not prevent you from being seen under your auto claim.
You don’t have to wait. If you were recently in an accident, you can schedule an appointment now. We’ll work with your auto insurer directly.
Hurt on the Job? Workers’ Compensation
If you were injured at work, your employer’s workers’ compensation insurance may cover your orthopedic care. We see workers’ comp patients regularly and can help get you back to work safely.
What to know:
- Report your injury to your employer first — they’ll open a claim and give you a claim number.
- Bring your employer’s name, claim number, and the name of their workers’ comp carrier to your appointment.
- If your claim is still being processed, call us — we can often get you started while approvals are pending.
No Insurance? Self-Pay & Cash-Pay Options
You don’t need insurance to be seen at Synergy Health Partners. We welcome self-pay and cash-pay patients for orthopedic consultations, MRIs, physical therapy, chiropractic care, and surgical procedures.
What to know:
- Self-pay is a normal, common way to access care — many of our patients choose this option.
- We provide a Good Faith Estimate before your care so you know what to expect. This is your right under federal law.
- Ask about our cash-pay rates for MRI imaging — often significantly lower than hospital pricing.
- Canadian patients: We regularly see patients from Ontario seeking faster access to MRI and orthopedic care. You are welcome as a self-pay patient.
How Insurance Verification Works
| 1 | You schedule your appointment. Book online, by phone, or walk in. Just have your insurance card handy. |
|
| 2 | We verify your benefits. Before your visit, our team contacts your insurance company to confirm your plan is active and what it covers. |
|
| 3 | We let you know if anything looks unusual. If there’s a coverage issue, a referral requirement, or an authorization needed, we’ll call you before your appointment — not after. |
|
| 4 | You see your doctor with confidence. No surprise bills from a lack of verification. You’ll know what to expect. |
A Few Terms Worth Understanding
Referral: Some insurance plans (especially HMOs) require your primary care doctor to send a referral before you see a specialist. If your plan requires one, we’ll let you know so you can get it before your visit.
Prior Authorization: For certain services like MRIs or surgery, your insurance may need to approve the procedure in advance. We handle this process for you — you don’t need to call your insurer.
Explanation of Benefits (EOB): After your visit, your insurance company sends you a document that shows what they were billed, what they paid, and what you may owe. This is not a bill. Your actual bill comes from us separately.
A Note About Coverage by Location and Provider
Healthcare is complicated — we get it. One of the most common questions we hear is: “Do all your doctors take my insurance?”
The honest answer is: most do, but not always every provider at every location for every plan. This is true of almost every multi-location medical practice, and it’s exactly why we verify your insurance before your visit.
Here’s what affects coverage:
- Your specific plan type (for example, an Aetna PPO may be accepted while an Aetna Medicaid plan is not)
- Which provider you’re seeing (some doctors have different network contracts)
- Which location you’re visiting (our Southfield clinic has a different provider mix than Sterling Heights, for example)
- The type of service (orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, chiropractic, and imaging each have different participation)
Bottom line: Don’t try to figure this out on your own. That’s our job. Just reach out and we’ll confirm everything for your specific situation.
